Project Engineer
We seek an experienced Project Engineer to serve as the central coordination point for the end-to-end renovation of our hospital facility. You will work closely with architects, structural consultants, MEP engineers, interior designers, and a range of contractors and vendors to ensure that the renovation is executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards - all while the hospital continues to operate.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain the master project schedule. Define milestones, critical paths, and phase-wise execution plans to minimise disruption to hospital operations.
- Coordination with Consultants: Act as the primary liaison between architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, and interior designers. Review drawings, resolve design conflicts, and ensure all disciplines are aligned.
- Contractor & Vendor Management: Oversee tendering, evaluation, and selection of contractors. Manage day-to-day contractor performance, work quality, material procurement, and adherence to timelines.
- Budget & Cost Control: Track project expenditures against approved budgets. Prepare cost estimates, review bills and invoices, negotiate rates, and flag variances early to leadership.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure all renovation work meets specified standards, hospital compliance requirements, and applicable building codes (including NBC, fire safety, and NABH facility guidelines).
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict safety protocols on site, especially given the operational healthcare environment. Ensure compliance with infection-control measures during construction activities.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular progress reports, dashboards, and updates to hospital leadership. Proactively communicate risks, delays, and mitigation plans.
- Phased Execution Oversight: Plan and manage renovation in phases to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations, patient flow, and clinical services.
- Regulatory Approvals: Coordinate with local municipal bodies and regulatory authorities for necessary approvals, NOCs, and inspections.
- Documentation & Handover: Maintain comprehensive project documentation including drawings (as-built), RFIs, change orders, site diaries, and snag lists. Ensure smooth handover of completed areas.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Civil Engineering.
- 6 - 12 years of experience in project engineering or construction management, with prior experience in hospitals, hotels, or MNC corporate office projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing renovation or retrofit projects in occupied / operational buildings.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, structural works, HVAC, electrical distribution, and interior fit-outs in large-scale facilities.
- Preference for familiarity with NABH infrastructure norms, National Building Code (NBC), and fire safety regulations is a strong plus.
- Preference for Chartered Engineer credential from the Institution of Engineers (India), Kolkata
